Athlete of the Month - September 2024 Grant Keller
When did you start with Cumming Strength and Fitness?
January 2024.
Favorite Workout?
Grind style workouts. You put yourself into your zone, then it’s just you vs you.
Least Favorite Workout?
Death Row.
Favorite Movement?
Did somebody say bench press?
Least favorite Movement?
Oh geez, there are so many. I’d have to say box jumps or front squats.
Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, military, interests, etc.).
I met my wife back in college (Go Dawgs!), and we have been together ever since. She is my best friend. My other best friend, is our dog Elvis. We call him our 70 pound lap dog. Besides going to the gym, I like to build legos, cook, nerd out on Marvel, and am a big sports fan.
What were you doing before you joined CS&F?
I was at a different CrossFit gym for three years, then was doing on and off lifting on my own at a globo gym. I was missing CrossFit and the community. I’m glad I wound up here!
Favorite music to workout to?
Music is such a big boost at the gym. It depends on the workout. My playlist is rock, heavy metal, rap, alternative. I do love some light and fun pop to keep me energized and moving, also helps me not get too serious.
Favorite Cheat meal?
Milkshakes!
What were your goals when joining CS&F and have you achieved them?
I’m just focused on being happy and healthy. I’ve lost over 30 pounds since January, and am excited to see where I’m at by the end of the year. Proud of where I’m at so far, and thankful for everyone who is with me on my journey.
Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?
There are some big ones like the Summer Classic and the Open. I like to focus on the small ones like Jen helping me through thrusters my first month here, randomly PRing my mile time, and enjoying the interactions I have with everyone.
What advice would you give to a newbie just joining Cumming Strength and Fitness?
Enjoy the journey and take it one step at a time. Don’t worry about what is written on the board or what others are doing, focus on what you can do and push yourself. You are capable of more than you realize.
Something we might not know about you is?
My wife and I run a small business for her artwork! We will be at the Cumming Art Fest on September 21-22 at the City Center!
