November Athlete of the Month: Brandon Allen

When did you start with Cumming Strength and Fitness? I started back in July of 2017

Favorite Workout?  I like Chief and any of the Saturday morning partner workouts

Least Favorite Workout?  I would probably say anything with overhead squats.  My lack of mobility makes those frustrating WODs

Favorite Movement? Squats or Cleans

Least favorite Movement? Overhead Squats

Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, military, interests, etc.).  Marty and I have a wonderful family.  She is an amazingly beautiful woman, who keeps the family together. We have 6 kids, and 5 dogs between us and it keeps everyone busy.  I grew up in Alpharetta, where I graduated from Milton.  I went to College of Charleston to play baseball, and then moved back to the area.  I really enjoy coaching and playing around.  I believe anything that has a level of competition is good for you. If you are too comfortable with what you are doing then you probably aren’t growing as a person.

What were you doing before you joined CS&F?  Basic Globo gym stuff.  I found it to be too routine.

Favorite music to workout to?  Anything with a beat, but I would say rap music

Favorite Cheat meal? I would say bar b que or pizza and wings.  But is it a cheat meal if you aren’t doing anything else?

What were your goals when joining CS&F and have you achieved them? Working out to me has always been therapeutic. I really enjoyed from the moment I started.  I have tried all types of different things, but by far CS&F has been the best experience that I have had.

Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?  Just the community.  The meat wagon boys in the afternoon always keep me accountable, and are certainly good for a different perspective on fitness .  I think some of my favorite memories are seeing other members achieve something in class that I know they have been working hard to accomplish.

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining Cumming Strength and Fitness?  Be consistent, and leave any expectations you may have in the car.  Realize that the fact you even showed up, is a win for the day and your personal fitness. Try different classes out, because they all have their own unique personalities.  Be a smart athlete.  No one judges anyone on their PRs or what they can lift.  Just enjoy the journey and the ability to push yourself in, an amazing community environment.

Something we might not know about you is? I am an only child, so my mother made sure that I would be able to cook, and sew, and take care of general home economic stuff
