June Athletes of the Month: Jordan and Katie Sandy

When did you start with Cumming Strength and Fitness?

We started in July 2021. It’s hard to believe it’s almost been 2 years! 

Favorite Workout?  

Jordan: Cindy

Katie: Anything with squats

Least Favorite Workout?  

Jordan: Karen

Katie: Jackie

Favorite Movement?

Jordan: Power cleans

Katie: Squats 

Least favorite Movement?

Jordan: Running

Katie: Snatches

Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, military, interests, etc.).

Katie and Jordan have been married for 6 years and have two children: Anna (3) and Caleb (9 months). We have lived in Cumming since 2019. Jordan works as an accountant and is the Music Pastor at Hope Church Union Hill. Katie left the Interior Design profession a few years ago to be a full time mommy. They enjoy spending time together as a family traveling and eating delicious food. 

What were you doing before you joined CS&F?

Getting fat and weak with many others during the pandemic. ALSO… enjoying being new parents. Katie persuaded Jordan to give up bro-style weightlifting and try CrossFit.  

Favorite music to workout to?  

Jordan: Skillet “Awake and Alive”

Katie: 2000s punk rock

Favorite Cheat meal?


What were your goals when joining CS&F and have you achieved them?

  1. Gain strength, 2. Consistency, 3. Mobility, 4. Cardio, 5. Community… YES. CS&F has exceeded high expectations. 

Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?  

Jordan: Stringing 15 double-unders together after years of failing (Thanks, Coaches Alex and Kali!)

Katie: Completing a heavy running workout postpartum 

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining Cumming Strength and Fitness?  

Stay consistent, be patient, focus on form.

Something we might not know about you is?

In college, Jordan was the front-man in a teen-sensation, pop-punk band called “Dragonfruit” 

Katie can memorize pop country songs within a few listens.
