Before heading to the grocery store it is important to prepare a thorough list. After planning meals for the week go ahead and sit down and put together a list of what you will need for each meal. Try to stick to this list only while shopping.

You will stay mostly to the perimeter of the grocery store. All though we can make many packaged and processed items fit into our numbers it is very important to consider health. Your body will respond best to natural foods
Reading The Labels
When you are purchasing items that have an ingredient list it is important to take a look at the nutrition label. The following are some of the things you should be considering when you are reading ingredient list and nutrition facts.
Be sure to look at Fat, Carbohydrates, Protein, Sugar and Sodium of each food. Make sure that each of these are not too high.
Try to avoid foods that have:
- Long ingredient list containing lots of artificial ingredients and added chemicals
- Items with added sugars (sucrose, glucose, sugar, maltodextrin, corn syrup, etc.)
Also be skeptical of foods that make claims like:
- Added vitamins and minerals
- Wholesome or healthy
- No sugar added
- Contains real fruit
- Fat-free, low carb, high protein
