Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, military, interests, etc.). I am a small-town girl that was born and raised in St. Paris, Ohio. Tony and I moved to Georgia in 2001 immediately following our September wedding. We have two boys, Easton (12) and Everett (8). I also inherited a daughter, Alysabeth (21), from Tony’s previous marriage. I work for an amazing company, Ultimate Software, where I am a Regional Manager on our Rapid Activation Team. I did not play sports growing up and never considered myself to have much of an athletic bone in my body.
What were you doing before CrossFit? Prior to joining CFC I was your typical gym rat: attending group fitness classes, hours of cardio sessions, boot camp classes and of course one-on-one personal training sessions. I was losing motivation quickly and needed something new and closer to home.
What were your thoughts after your first CrossFit workout? I am really out of shape.
What were your goals when joining CrossFit? To get back into a regular workout routine doing something that I enjoyed that would hold my interest.
Have you achieved any of those goals? Absolutely! I have stuck with my CF routine for almost 3 years now and love every minute of it.
Has CrossFit affected your life outside the Gym? CrossFit has impacted my life in a number of ways. I have influenced the kids to exercise and understand the importance of taking care of their bodies, hopefully instilling habits that will carry into adulthood. I have also seen an increase in my confidence as an individual, wife and mother.
Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here? This is an environment that over the past 2.5 years has challenged me, encouraged me and taught me so much inside and outside of the box. My proudest achievement is the inspiration and role model I have been for my kids.
What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit Cumming? Do not let it intimidate you. CrossFit can be for everyone and is not only for the body builders of the world. CFC is not just about the workout but the relationships and the encouragement you receive. Those are the things that keep me coming back and the workout is just a bonus.
Something you might not know about me is? I would guess that most have figured this out but I am a very routine, organized, a bit OCD, type A personality with a major sweet tooth.
