August Athlete of the Month: Julia Debreceni


When did you start with Cumming Strength and Fitness?  Started January 14, 2016


Favorite Workout?   “Mary” (20 min AMRAP: 5 HSPUs / 10 Pistols / 15 Pull Ups)


Least Favorite Workout?   “Karen” (150 wall balls)


Favorite Movement?   It’s a toss up: power cleans, bar muscle ups, and HSPUs


Least favorite Movement?  Thrusters


Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, military, interests, etc.).  I’m originally from Dayton, OH. I went to Oregon State University and then moved to TN for my first job after I graduated. After 3 years I decided to change careers so I moved back to OH where I had connections. I ended up meeting a guy at the office; followed him to CA (not in a creepy way). Was only in CA for 3 years due to our careers moving us to GA. First moved to Suwanee, then Buford and now Cumming, where we plan to stay for a long time. We have 4 dogs and 2 cats (all rescues).  I’ve always been an athletic person. When growing up I played soccer for 7 years, swim team for 3 years, dance for 5 years, softball 1 year, lacrosse 1 year and gymnastics 9 years. I have a love hate relationship with golf. If I’m not at the gym then I’m probably playing golf.


What were you doing before you joined CS&F?  Was a member at No Excuses in Suwanee, GA for about 3 years. Found CS&F when I moved from Buford to Cumming.


What was the first CD you bought?  Technotronic Pump Up the Jam: The Album


Favorite Cheat meal?   A cheeseburger, usually with a whole bunch of stuff and fries with ranch


What were your goals when joining CS&F and have you achieved them?   I set 3 goals for myself when I started: achieve bar & ring muscle ups, gain back my energy, and figure out how to eat better to achieve my weight goals.


Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?  My biggest achievement was learning how to eat properly.  I worked with Rachel on the nutrition piece and was amazed at how much more energy I had after those 6 months, not to mention the 15″ in total lost. It was a real eye opener!


What advice would you give to a newbie just joining Cumming Strength and Fitness?   Don’t worry about what others are doing around you, everyone has different strength and weaknesses. Setting 3-5 short term goals helps improving your own skills.


Something you might not know about me is?   I originally wanted to go to the Air Force academy, but my gymnastic injuries prevented me from taking that career path.
