Athletes of the month for November: Brittani Sewell and Seth Kirkland

When did you start with Cumming Strength and Fitness? 

Brittani- 03/16/2021

Seth- March 2021

Favorite Workout?  

Brittani- This may sound crazy but it’s 100% Murph. The atmosphere on Memorial Day plays a part in this too. 

Seth-Favorite workout is Nancy

Least Favorite Workout?

Brittani-Probably the first WOD I ever did, it was on Hunter’s birthday but I can’t remember the name. I completed FGB the day before, I was so sore!

Seth-I am not sure of my least favorite workout at this time

Favorite Movement? 

Brittani-back squats, front squats, split jerk, deadlifts.

Seth- Favorite movement is push press

Least favorite Movement? 

Brittani- Burpees, lol or running!

Seth- Least favorite movement is the snatch

Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, military, interests, etc.). 

Brittani- I’m a service manager for Premier Engineering in Cumming. I have 2 orange cats. Seth and I are getting married 11/13!! He’s the reason I joined CS&F! We’ve been together for 6 1/2 years. 

Seth- Brittani and I will be married on November 13. I am a state licensed electrician and am owner of True Electrical Solutions, LLC. In my free time, I am usually fishing or hunting. I enjoying grilling and being outside.

What were you doing before you joined CS&F? 

Brittani- Going to Planet Fitness a few times a week.

Seth- Before I joined CS&F I was working all day, not exercising, and had terrible eating habits.

Favorite music to workout to?

Brittani- Rap & 90’s Pop!

Seth- Most music is fine with me, 80’s music actually has a negative impact on my performance though.

Favorite Cheat meal? 

Brittani- Currently it’s Shrimp & Grits from Tupelo Tam’s.

Seth- Favorite cheat meal is Pizza

What were your goals when joining CS&F and have you achieved them? 

Brittani- Lower BFP and gain muscle. I have not completely achieved these goals but we are in the process. 

Seth- My goals before joining CS&F were to lose weight, change my body composition and become fit. I have made a huge dent in my goals, but I have a long way to go.

Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?

Brittani- I’ve met some great people since I’ve joined and finally got to a point where I enjoy rowing! This used to be my least favorite movement.

Seth- My favorite memories at the gym are from the beginning. When I couldnt do a single pull up, struggled to run 400M, and had a hard time getting in and out of the row machine because of my gut… those memories get me fired up to be at the gym at 6am.

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining Cumming Strength and Fitness?  

Brittani- I know it can look intimidating but it’s not! The community here is so supportive and encouraging. Push yourself to the limit, ask for help or advice when needed, and have fun!

Seth- My advice for a newbie would be listen to the coaches, they are there to help. Accept the encouragement from your classmates. I personally believe that consistency is key & it certainly helps if you can go hard whenever possible. I weighed 241lbs two weeks before I started with CS&F. I am holding  right around 200lbs currently & feel great

Just wanted to say that CS&F is an awesome community. The coaching staff is knowledgeable and always willing to offer advice/encouragement. Everyone has been polite and helpful. I have been to most of the different class times, and that holds true through all of them. I appreciate all of my classmates and I enjoy hustling alongside everyone. I am looking forward to continuing my journey with CS&F.
