When did you start with Cumming Strength and Fitness?
I started CS&F in September of 2017
Favorite Workout?
DT, because it is very challenging to me. I love a good challenge even if it hurts! Side note: I used to HATE it!
Least Favorite Workout?
I don’t know if I have a least favorite workout except for any WOD with both snatches and overhead squats. I suck at anything overhead.
Favorite Movement?
Cleans
Least favorite Movement?
Overhead Squats
Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, military, interests, etc.).
I have been married to my husband for 17 wonderful and blissful years. We NEVER fight. Ever! I have three beautiful children, one who is in heaven (he passed away at three days old) and two talented and strong-willed girls, 10 and 12 years old. My youngest is a competitive gymnast and my oldest is in competitive dance. I work as a Social Media Manager of various companies and keep their social media current. I grew up doing gymnastics and swimming year round. I love to workout, watch my girls in dance and gymnastics and become young women, and my favorite thing to do is hang on the couch and watch movies with the family.
What were you doing before you joined CS&F?
I was running A LOT. I did a marathon clocking in at 3 hours 17 minutes. (I will always have that!) I have run so many half marathons I have lost count, and I have done a few triathlons. I would pack up the kids and run for miles in the double stroller and they loved it! As long as we had snacks, they were happy in the stroller waving and saying Hi to everyone we passed. I also did HIIT workouts on YouTube.
Favorite music to workout to?
All the Hip Hop and Rap. The dirtier the better!
Favorite Cheat meal?
Probably pizza. But it has to be GOOD pizza like from Compania or somewhere. I will not waste it on Pizza Hut. I guess I am a pizza snob. #dealwithit
What were your goals when joining CS&F and have you achieved them?I NEEDED a change. I was 38 when I started and I was not seeing any results with my current exercise routine. I also wanted to get my nutrition in check. I knew about Crossfit from Laura Little and she had been getting me to join for a few years. I finally came in one day and fell in love with the whole place! The workouts were so challenging and I was hooked! After a few months of getting used to the movements and workouts, I then wanted to talk to the nutrition coach and begin to understand what my body needs and doesn’t need. I have always eaten healthy, but also drank every weekend and cheated in my meals as well. Which is completely fine, but I wanted to change my body composition. Drinking really wasn’t that attractive to me anymore, so I took the plunge and began to learn the truth about nutrition. I have learned SO MUCH through Chrissy and Jill and am now in better shape than I was when I was in my 20s. I am not starving myself anymore and working out for hours and hours. I am eating ALL THE GOOD FOOD, and only working out one hour a day, 6 days a week, most weeks.
Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?
When I think about my time at CS&F, I really just love being around the people here. From the minute I walk in I see my friends, we hang out, talk about life, motherhood, being a wife all while working out and killing it everyday. The men and women I have met here are amazing people and the coaches are some of the BEST! I just love the banter we have and all the inappropriate jokes that come out of my mouth, and others too! Those are my favorite memories. Just being around the best people. I truly feel they make me a better person.
What advice would you give to a newbie just joining Cumming Strength and Fitness?
Take your time getting to learn the movements and workouts. Don’t feel like you have to be perfect. None of us are! Keep trying, ASK questions if you have any, and know there are modifications for EVERYTHING! So there is no need to be intimidated even though crossfit can be very intimidating. Also, results won’t happen quickly, at least it didn’t for me. But stay with it, stay consistent, and you WILL see results.
Something we might not know about you is?
Many of you know how loud and obnoxious I am, so you might not know that I used to be an elementary school librarian for a few years. I was the loudest librarian you ever met! And only held that job for two years. Oh well, not my jam!
