Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, military, interests, etc.).2 sides of the same coin: Personal and professional:
Professional: I earned an Undergraduate degree in Accounting from Northern Illinois University, I am a Certified Public Accountant and earned a Masters in Business Administration from Wake Forest University. I currently serve as the VP of Pricing and Profitability for Highline Aftermarket-a privately held Automotive aftermarket parts distributor. I have held roles ranging from sales, customer service, supply chain and finance, but the last 15-20 years have developed an expertise in pricing.
Personal: I married Jennifer, my college best friend, in Dec 1992, 28 years ago…seems like yesterday. Have 2 daughters Sarah Grace (23) and Morgan (21). Originally from central Illinois, I grew up in a small farm town north of Peoria Il. My mother was a school teacher and my Dad worked as a public aid administrator for the State of Illinois. Active in sports in school: basketball, baseball, track, and golf…basically all year round…main focus was basketball. I grew up going to church and would classify myself an Evangelical Christian but didn’t really “get it” until I was 33 and since have been active in spreading the gospel in prison ministry for the last 17 years, as well as teaching, preaching and leading men’s groups in the local church. Aside from that, I love to read and cook.
What were you doing before you joined CS&F? Nothing and my health suffered for it, moved to Atlanta in April of 2015 to help build a business and spend 80 hrs a week for 3 years making that happen. It was very exciting and professionally fulfilling but destroyed my health. I gained ~50lbs over that time frame.
What was the first CD you bought? U2 – Joshua Tree – (still in my Spotify playlist)
Favorite Cheat meal? Dutch Monkey Doughnuts – Love them – ultimate reward 🙂
What were your goals when joining CS&F and have you achieved them? (1) Complete Murph (2) Lose 40lbs…Yes – I completed Murph 2x – goal is to add pull-ups next time and my current weight is 216 and I started at CS&F at 254, so i am 2lbs away from achieving goal #2
Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here? Finishing Murph this year and beating last year’s time by 17min.
What advice would you give to a newbie just joining Cumming Strength and Fitness? Set performance goals and write them down, Trust the process, modification and scaling are a good thing and above all be consistent and don’t quit
